  • Discounts

As college students, we get the advantage of using student discounts. This can save lots of money when you add it up. Student discounts can be given with a presentation of a student id. Some restaurants and retail stores provide this discount, like Aeropostale, J.crew, Hanes, The North Face, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Champion, Mcdonalds, Chick-fil-a, Dunkin’, Arby’s, Taco Bell, along with so many more places.

Discounts can also be used on apps or services like Amazon, Spotify, Apple Music, Adobe programs, Hulu, Paramount+, and movie theatres.

When saving money, you must consider that every penny counts. If you had only 20 bucks in your wallet, you would think more about getting a 15-dollar item. Treat your credit card like cash. You only have 20 dollars for food in your budget, so don’t exceed that 20 dollars!

  • Goal Setting

With our knowledge of creating a budget, the next question is, how can we stick to it? Creating goals can help with sticking to a budget and saving for something you want. Creating a short-term goal can consist of buying new clothes or appliances. Long-term goals are your wants, as in a new car or home. This will help you feel motivated to save money and keep you from purchasing unnecessary items.

Keeping a goal also comes with knowing the difference between needs and wants. The shoes you want might interfere with the new dryer that you need. Priorities are critical when saving money. Get in with the mindset of saving for needs first. Loan payments are more important than saving for a tv.
