When we hear that students need a cope for stress, We should think of some healthy activities for students to participate in to aid them through their college experience. According to mindfulhealthsolutions.com the most common and helpful strategies are time management, building a support network, and mindfulness and relaxation tips. Lets dive into this with the most essential being the first one on their list I would have to agree and that is , Prioritizing tasks for time management.
One method talked about that is called Eisenhower Matrix, “which categorizes tasks into four quadrants based on their urgency and importance: urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important, and neither urgent nor important.”
Once you are able to establish what is most important and needed to get done in order from most important to not you can go one step further.
Pomodoro Technique. “This technique involves breaking your work into intervals, typically 25 minutes long, followed by a short 5-minute break. After completing four intervals, you take a longer break, usually 15-30 minutes.” By doing this you are creating some sort of urgency while also keeping in mind that you need some rest to be most productive. By combining these two methods you can effectively get after the things you were letting pile up that were important tasks, while also keeping a very healthy balance that you won’t feel you need more rest after.
Having a supportive network is very helpful when you have an overwhelming amount of tasks that need to be done. Supportive friends and family is crucial. Having someone to share your problems with can take a load of stress off your shoulders and you can always ask the professor for advice or extra help.
Healthy lifestyle Choices like getting enough sleep can also play a role in the amount of stress we carry on into the following day. If you already have some kind of mental health condition like anxiety or depression lack of adequate sleep can intensify these symptoms and even increase the likelihood of developing those symptoms. Now that we know how bad it is to not get the proper amount of sleep every night, lets talk about what we can do to help us sleep. First creating an environment that is sleep inducing. You need to have a space that you are going to be comfortable and cool while staying away from environments that you may want to just lay awake in. I have found that staying out of my bed until I am going to go to sleep is a major help. Avoiding screens before bed. This will help your brain understand that your bed is for sleeping only. Incorporate some sort of exercise throughout the day so your body doesn’t have any pent up energy that keeps you awake. Lastly meditation can help a lot with getting good sleep while reducing stress. Taking 10 minutes before sleeping to clear your mind and put your body into a state of relaxing and being disconnected from other things can make a huge difference.

I am not the strongest writer. I am interested in making content through forms of art like video or images. I am at the start of getting my digital media and technology degree. I hope to be able to work on some really cool projects or a movie in the future. I spend most of my time at work or at the gym. I have one orange cat, and he’s insane!
