Dr. Steven DiBlasi is making a Change in the Community

Dr. Steven DiBlasi is an Assistant Professor of Music at Gulf Coast State College of Panama City, FL. Dr. DiBlasi has a true passion for music and has already made a big difference in the community while working at the GCSC for only a second year. He is making himself a name in the industry, sharing his innovative ideas and enthusiasm. With an incredible idea of connecting the college with the community and helping students to learn to perform in front of a crowd Dr, DiBlasi came up with an event – The Piano Festival. He not only strengthened the college’s music program within the Visual and Performing Arts department but also created meaningful connections between the college campus and the local community.

The Piano Festival

Dr. DiBlasi believes the music should be shared and experienced. He also understands that students after GCSC will pursue Bachelor’s Degrees in Universities, and the Piano Festival gives students the opportunity to practice beyond the classroom, build confidence, and artistry. Students have an opportunity to perform in front of a large live audience and have a true performing experience. The Piano Festival has already been a huge success and has drawn a lot of attention within the community, while it has been only the second annual event. Dr. DiBlasi is maneuvering the details of the Festival and expanded on the idea this year of 2026. In 2025, the Piano Festival consisted of a Guest Artist’s Performance and a master class. In 2026, the students were part of the festival, and Dr. DiBlasi himself took the stage as a performer, further showing his dedication to the craft and his students.  The 2026 festival also welcomed a guest artist  Dr. Padilla, whose performance added depth to the event. Next year, the Piano Festival is expected to expand even further.

After the performances, Dr. DiBlasi often stays behind to speak with the audience members, taking time answering questions, talking about the performance, and the music. He actively engages with the community, sharing his genuine passion for playing piano, making live music performance accessible and meaningful to everyone.

The Piano Festival will continue to grow. It is clear that Dr. DiBlasi has a vision for the future, and it is only the beginning. His passion, positivity, leadership, and dedication are not only shaping the future for his students but also enriching the cultural life of the local community.
