Last Saturday April 19th, 2025 The Commodores went up against The Chipola Indians! They played a two game baseball tournament. These were the last two games of the conference season and they were a great way to finish the season.

Game 1 Breakdown

The first game was 5 – 1 and the the Win going to Gulf Coast. The first game was a 7 inning game and it wasn’t super intense, it was actually pretty mellow compared to what was to come later that day in the second game.

Ka’olu Holt was the starting pitcher for game 1 and he only surrendered 2 hit and zero runs during his 4 innings on the mound. Jacob Price was the closing pitcher for The Commodores and he collected the save for the game. Langlotz led the commodores with runs. He batted in 2 of the 5 scored that game and He went 2 for 4.

During the quick breaks I was able to Interview Jerry Winston a long time Commodore’s fan. Jerry has be supporting the commodores since The College had Slow Pitched Soft Ball.

Game 2 Breakdown

The second game was also a 7 inning game just like the first. The game started off not looking to great for the Commodores as the Chipotle Indians scored 5 runs over the first 6 innings and Gulf Coast had scored 0. Everything would change though for the Commodores during the bottom of the 6th!

The commodores came back and scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th. For anyone who has ever watch baseball knows how crazy that is to score 7 runs in a single inning and the fact that they were down 0 to 5 is even crazier. They literally came back at the last second! Now that isn’t to say that they weren’t fighting the whole game they definitely were!! During the inning the 7 runs were scored on 5 hits and the most detrimental play was on a dropped 3 strike that drove in not 1 but 2 runs!

This was such an amazing game to watch especially since it was the last game of the conference. It was the perfect note to end on! A game that signified the ups and downs but mainly showcased the determination and resilience this team has!

I was lucky enough to talk with the head coach Tyler Younger and interview him about the games but also his over all thoughts on the season as a whole. Here is that interview with Coach Younger:
