Congratulations to Former GC Women’s Basketball Head Coach Roonie Scovel!
During Scovel’s 22 years with the Lady Commodores, she compiled an impressive Coaching Career Record of 626 wins/91 losses (0.877 winning %). She led her teams to 17 Conference Championships, 13 Regional Championships, and 6 NJCAA National Championships. Scovel was inducted into the 2021 FCSAA Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, 2017 Emerald Coast All Sports Association Hall of Fame, and 2011 NJCAA Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Along with having amazing successes on the court, Coach Scovel’s academic successes are equally impressive. Throughout 22 seasons she graduated over 90% of her players and consistently had players transfer to the finest 4-year academic institutions in the country.
