Student Veteran Association: Veterans, Let Us Help You

Returning the Favor

Gulf Coast State College works hard to provide education and support to all its students. Likewise, the Student Veteran Association (SVA) seeks to aid military veterans and their families. This organization, based at the GCSC campus, dedicates itself to meeting the needs of these people. However, all of this interest and concern is not merely for education’s sake; GCSC wishes to honor our veterans’ hard work protecting our country. In response, the SVA strives to assist veterans in any way possible. The military helps us, so GCSC wishes to help the veterans.

What is SVA?

The SVA helps military students and their families achieve their educational, professional, and vocational goals. Additionally, tools and services in this organization provide the means and information for moving on to civilian life. Further, available entitlements and benefits are granted to veterans and their families to satisfy their well-being. Along with financial aid and accreditation, SVA offers social networking opportunities to connect with other military veterans.

The Services of the SVA

Many services and networking opportunities abound for members of the SVA, but not just in the educational department. Whenever GCSC’s military veterans need a nice place to study and relax , they go to the Military/Veteran Resource Center. Located on GCSC campus, this Center provides up to six computers and an LED TV, along with recliners and a couch. Designed to help in transitioning to college life, military students can connect with other veterans and support their academic success at GCSC. Above all, this place can make our veterans feel at home.

Membership and Locations

The SVA is open to all students who are veterans or active duty; military spouses and children are qualified as well. Additionally, no person is excluded based on gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or disability. For more information about the SVA, visit the Military/Veterans Services page at gulfcoast.edu. Moreover, the Military/Veteran Resource Center is located in Student Union East, room 62, on GCSC campus.
