Meet Jessica Holloway of Jessica Rae Photography. Jessica Holloway is a photographer based in Panama City. With a focus on Weddings and Families. Jessica dives into her passion for photographing life as it happens. Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself. What’s your background? A: I have been working professionally behind the scenes as well as assisting on photoshoots up and down the Gulf Coast for the past 9 years. Q: How would you define photography? What does it mean to you? A: Photography means capturing life as it happens.
A love for authentic moments. Capturing moments that mean something to people is what photography means to JRP. She has always approached her work with the thought of what would make for good natural moments for people to cherish later. “I fell in love with photography when I discovered that with one photo you could capture a moment and preserve it,” JRP stated. “It’s something someone can look at and remember.” She prefers to shoot naturally lit, real moments rather than overly posed photos. JRP likes to make her photos unique while still allowing them to connect with those in them.
Life Behind the Lens Being an exterior process, photography may look easy. However, JRP said there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Whether it be adapting to lighting or working with clients, every shoot comes with its own challenges. “I think one of the biggest challenges has been learning to adapt,” she said. “Each photography shoot is different, and you have to be prepared for whatever comes your way.” She added that she also learned how to make people feel at home when shooting to capture natural reactions.

In addition to her written responses, JRP shared her thoughts in a short audio clip, highlighting what photography means to her and why capturing real moments matters.
For aspiring photographers, JRP suggests picking up a camera early and shooting whenever possible. “Don’t wait until you feel ready. Just start shooting and learn as you go,” she said. She added that finding your own style and being consistent is important when trying to better your skills.

Student Writer - Spring 2026

I am a student pursuing a degree in Digital Media with a strong interest in photography, videography, and visual storytelling. I enjoy creating content that highlights real places, people, and experiences, especially along the Gulf Coast. Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my family exploring local areas like downtown Panama City and 30A, or working on photo and video projects such as weddings, real estate, and landscape photography.  I’m married and have two young children, along with two dogs, a German Shepherd and a Corgi, which keep life busy and fun. I’m excited to continue building my creative and technical skills as I move forward in my educational journey.
