At GCSC in Student Union East there is a coffee bar and they are open Monday-Thursday for a little pick-me-up if you need one. It is called Sola Coffee Bar and they are open from 8am-2pm for students and staff. It is a delightful little place.

Sola Coffee Bar
You can choose
The coffees can be plain or more elaborate. You can choose from cappuccino, espresso, latte, or an americano if you like your coffee more fancy. They have a variety of different flavors you can add for just a little bit extra, like vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, mocha, and more. There are a variety of toppings too like whip cream and caramel drizzle too. If you are more simple, then drip coffee is for you.
More than coffee
You don’t have to be a coffee lover to get a special drink. You are not alone and they have something for you too. You will also find hot tea and hot chocolate. The matcha latte and chai latte are a great choice too. Another special drink is a refreshing lemonade, which is my personal favorite.
Breakfast time
Feeling hungry? Getting a small bite is also an option at the Sola Coffee Bar. At breakfast you can choose from cinnamon rolls, quiche, scones, muffins, or bagels. It is a good way to get the mind ramped up and ready for class and homework time.
Lunch options
If you have already had breakfast, no problem. They have chicken salad sandwiches or a ham/turkey with cheese sandwiches to munch on. I like the ham/turkey salad myself. No matter which one you choose, it will satisfy your hunger.

Hours of operation
Time to get away
The atmosphere can be a more peaceful place to slow down and enjoy the moment. Off to the side there is a space with tables and softer lighting to hide away for a moment. It can be enjoyed by yourself or with a friend. It is totally up to you.
It can also be a place you can rush in and out if you are in a time crunch. You can grab what you need and be off to class in a jiffy. They have got your back.
Another option
Another really cool thing is, it is also a place where students gather in a big open room. In this area there are booths and tables everywhere. Different people have different agendas and that is okay.
It is a good place for study groups. Not everyone is doing homework. I see others playing games and simply resting from a busy college life. Some students are sitting alone and some are in a group.
I like to go in this area when I bring my own lunch after I grab a delicious lemonade. There are lots of places to choose from. Sometimes I do homework and sometimes I don’t. I have been known to scroll through social media to disconnect for a few too.
It’s a must try
Everyone is friendly. It is a great spot we have to enjoy on campus. If you haven’t been there to visit yet, I encourage you to give it a try. It may not be for everyone, but it is for me and a lot of other students and faculty. You won’t know though unless you give it a try. Who knows, you may also make a new friend.
