Madison Laiche cheering after striking out a batter during Gulf Coast State Commodores softball game
PANAMA CITY, FL — The Gulf Coast State Commodores softball team had an incredible week, winning all four games with a combination of explosive hitting and dominant pitching. After securing two wins on Tuesday against LBW on the road, the Commodores returned home to sweep Lansing Community College, thrilling fans with an outstanding display of offense and defense.

In the first game against Lansing, the Commodores’ bats were unstoppable, hitting five home runs, including a walk-off grand slam in the fifth inning by Ella Grace Kelley, sending fans at home plate into a frenzy.

“Honestly, it felt amazing to get that hit for the team,” Kelley said. “We’ve been working hard in practice all week, and the energy from my teammates kept me focused. It’s all about trusting your swing and staying in the moment.”

On the mound, Madison Laiche was untouchable, pitching a perfect game and throwing a no-hitter. Only one runner reached base, due to a fielding error, as Laiche delivered precise strikes and kept Lansing off balance throughout the game.

“I just try to stay focused on each pitch,” Laiche said. “Our defense is incredible and seeing my teammates perform so well at the plate gives me the confidence to throw my best.”

Pitching coach Shellie Littlefield praised both the hitters and Laiche’s performance on the mound.

“Our bats were on fire today, and Madison was phenomenal,” Littlefield said. “When your players are clicking like this, it’s a coach’s dream. Every hitter contributed, and it really shows the hard work they’ve put in all season.”

The Commodores continue their hot streak tomorrow, Monday, March 9th, at home against Rock Valley, a team known for being a tough opponent. Rock Valley recently defeated Northwest Florida, another conference team, adding excitement and challenge to the upcoming matchup.

Fans are encouraged to come out to the home field to cheer on the Commodores as they look to maintain their winning momentum. With powerful hitting and precise pitching, Gulf Coast State is shaping up to be a team to watch this season.
