Sports are full of split-second moments that define games, seasons, and even careers. For student photographer Connor Everhart, capturing those moments isn’t just about snapping a great picture… it’s about preserving the emotion, the energy, and the stories that unfold on the field.

At a recent North Bay Haven soccer match, Connor set up along the sidelines, camera in hand, ready for whatever this game would bring. His goal: to catch the important plays—the ones that could change everything. Through the lens, every pass, every save, and every shot carries weight far beyond the scoreboard.

“I think the beauty of soccer is how fast everything can change,” Connor said during the interview. “One second you’re winning, the next you’re scrambling to stay in it. I try to capture that tension… the moments where everything hangs in the balance.”

Connor’s journey into sports photography began as a hobby, but it quickly evolved into something much bigger. Now, he balances his passion for the craft with his ambitions for a future in business and media. “Covering games taught me more than photography,” he explained. “It taught me about timing, storytelling, and even how branding works in sports.”

As a player himself, Connor has a unique advantage… he knows the flow of the game. He can anticipate when a critical moment is about to happen, allowing him to position himself just right for the shot that others might miss. It’s a skill set that has caught the attention of coaches, players, and even college scouts looking for media to showcase their athletes.

When asked what advice he would give to aspiring sports photographers, Connor emphasized the preparation and the patience that comes with being a sports photographer. “You have to be ready at all times because the best moments aren’t staged. They happen naturally… and you only get one chance to capture them.”

From the sidelines of high school matches to potential opportunities in college athletics, Connor’s lens continues to follow the unpredictable, powerful storylines of the game… one frame at a time.
