Commodores Vs Gorden State Highlanders

Saturday February 8th The Commodore’s Baseball team went up against Gordon State Highlanders’ Baseball team. The first game final score was 2-1 with the Commodores taking the win! They then played them for a second time later on that same day. The final score for the second game was 3-0. The Commodores took the win again for the second time that day! These two games were a part of a 3 game tournament against Gordon State. On friday the commodores lost the one and only game that day. The final score for Friday’s game was 8-2 with Gordon State taking the win. 

Gulf Coast’s season began on Tuesday January 28th when they played Bishop State. Their current conference standings is 11-4. So they have won 11 games, lost 4 games, and have played a total of 15 games so far. As a team their overall batting record for this season is 49 runs scored, 42 RBIs (Runs batted in), 10 home runs, and a batting average of .261. For pitching their overall team record is six wins, 3 loses, 310 total batters faced, 1,159 total pitches, 96 strikeouts, and 29 strikeouts looking.

First Game

Jordan Martinez #21 was the starting pitcher and recorded 15 outs for game one. He deferred only one run and zero hits, zero runs were earned in the first five ending, and he struck out nine batters and walked one. Martinez faced 17 batters, threw 76 pitches, and gained the win for the game. His overall record for this season is three wins, zero loses, 20 strikeouts, four strikeouts looking, has faced 63 batters, and has thrown 240 pitches. Carrington Aaron, Collin Lindsey, and Alex McCranie all gained a hit for the Commodores.

Second Game

Ka’olu Holt #16 was the starting pitcher and recorded 15 outs for game two. He deferredone hit and zero runs over the first five innings. He also struck out nine batters and walked 2. Holt faced 19 batters, threw 75 pitches, and gained the win for Gulf Coast. His overall season record is three wins, one loss, 26 strikeouts, 12 strikeouts looking, has faced a total of 82 batters, and has thrown 293 pitches. 

Gage Chandley pitched one scoreless inning for the Commodores. He gave up zero hits, walked zero hitters, and struck out two. Chandley’s overall season record is zero wins, zero loses, five strikeouts, three strikeouts looking, has faced a total of 20 batters, and has thrown 80 pitches. Payne and Masse had a strong game as they both collected two hits for the Commodores. Johnson, Masse, and Payne each gained one run for the Commodores!
