Let me solo her – An Elden Ring Legend

First, some background information

Before we get into the player that is shaking up the gaming world, let me catch you up to speed. If you aren’t aware, FromSoftware is known for making difficult action RPGs, the latest of which is Elden Ring. FromSoft games use hard boss battles to make the player learn from their mistakes. This gives them a sense of growth as they progress through their games. Some of these bosses are harder than others.

In Elden Ring, Malenia is a hidden boss meant to test even FromSoft veterans’ knowledge and skill at the game. Players around the world spent days trying to beat Malenia’s difficult two-phase boss fight. If people who have played past FromSoft games were struggling with the fight, you can imagine how much difficulty casual gamers had. That’s where our legend comes in.

The Legend Begins

FromSoft games allow players to summon other players to battle against a boss that they find difficult. This allows for anyone to be able to continue with the story and enjoy their time with the game. Malenia, as you can imagine, became a popular boss for people to be summoned for. Even then, Malenia proved to be difficult enough that people still struggled even after summoning help. However, that all changed.

On April 11th, 2022, Reddit user ‘great_artorias’ made a post on the Elden Ring subreddit. The post, “thx to ‘let me solo her”,  praised a summoned player’s abilities as they “dodged nearly all her attacks and got hit only one time.” The post received very little reaction and nothing seemed to be happening. Until a mere 24-hours-later.

The one true “Elden Lord”

The next day, two Reddit users posted about their shared experience of “Let me solo her”. They claimed that they summoned the player who wore nothing but a large pot on his head. He only got hit once and as his name suggested, soloed the boss fight with no issue. The posts blew up, leading to people getting invested in the story of LMSH. When some others posted photos of the player in their games, the internet knew that this was real.

Now being the focus of many videos, articles, memes, and some of the best fan art I have seen in a long while, “Let me solo her” has become the stuff of legend in just a mere few days.

On April 13th, LMSH posted a video of themselves soloing Malenia on the Elden Ring subreddit. They claim, “I’ve been helping countless tarnished in their quest to defeat Malenia by going butt naked except for a Jar on my head.” They ended the post with a promise to help “desperate Tarnished as always :)”.

In just a few days, LMSH has become a legendary champion among the Elden Ring and the larger FromSoft community. As commenters on Reddit have said, “Let me solo her” truly is our one, true Elden Lord.
