Only One More Month.

First of all, despite being less than a month away from finals, The Visual and Performing Arts department at Gulf Coast State college still has a full calendar for students and staff. The events for the next month go from November 15th to December 8th.

The Visual and Performing Arts department house several dramatic plays and musicals each semester on the main stage or in the intimate Black Box. Because the plays and shows can be viewed in the Amelia G. Tapper Center, these shows bring art, passion, and expression to the audience.

Upcoming Events.

Starting November 15th to December 6th there will be The Twelfth Annual Cup Show Form and Function. This art exhibit will survey a wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics through the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel-the cup.  The event will be juried by Peter Pincus. The opening reception is on November 15th from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm in the Amelia Center Gallery.

On November 22nd, there will be one last Student Music Recital to wrap up the semester. If you enjoy music and the arts come out and support our students!  The recital will be in the Amelia Center for the Arts at 10:00 am.

On December 6th The Singing Commodores and Jazz Ensemble Holiday Concert will be playing. This show choir has been in existence at Gulf Coast State College for over 30 years.  They have been singing a cappella, jazz and popular arrangements of today. Serving Bay County, Fl., this small singing group entertains people of all ages, and they strive to promote music education and ensemble participation in our local schools. The event will be in the Amelia Center Theatre starting at 7:30 pm. The event is free, and accepts scholarship donations for upcoming students.

Similarly, just two days later on December 8th, The Concert Band and Concert Chorale Holiday Concert will be playing in the Amelia Center Theater as well. The event is free and starts at 2:30 pm. Donations accepted for music scholarships, as well.

Audition Time!

On December 2nd at 6:30 pm, there certainly will be a combined audition for The Miracle Worker and BURT (or when I was five I killed myself). The Miracle Worker is by William Gibson and directed by Hank Rion. And BURT (or when I was five I killed myself) is by Teddi Yaeger, which is adapted from the novel by Howard Buten, and directed by Jason Hedden.
