Are you interested in acting on a state-of-the-art stage? What about programming stage lighting and creating sets? Could I possibly interest you in joining a band? Well.. you’re in luck! These are all features that our Gulf Coast State College Visual & Performing Arts Program offers! Want to know the best part? The VPA Program is offering scholarships to applicants starting on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Amelia G. Tapper Center for the Arts. These scholarships are available to current full-time students and new Gulf Coast State College students (high school diploma required by August 2025). Music (associates in arts) Applicants:
For this major, the applicant must prepare two different pieces with either an instrument or vocal styling of their choice. If the applicant chooses to sing, they must provide their own accompanying track (background music with no additional vocals). All applicants need to bring a letter of recommendation and a copy of their high school transcript. Theatre: acting (ASSOCIATES IN ARTS)
For this major, applicants must prepare two separate monologues that does not go over three minutes. All applicants need to bring a letter of recommendation and a copy of their high school transcript. Theatre: Musical (Associate In Arts)
For this major, applicants must prepare a 90-second monologue and one song. For their song, applicants must provide their own sheet music and their own accompanying track (with no additional vocals). All applicants need to bring a letter of recommendation and a copy of their high school transcript. Art (associates in arts)
For this major, applicants must provide their art portfolio. This portfolio must consist of 10 to 15 pieces that are examples of their best. If submitting original pieces, then the work must be matted. If the applicant is submitting a digital portfolio, then all pieces must be compiled into a high-quality PDF file entitled “LAST NAME PORTFOLIO“. All applicants need to provide two letters of recommendation (one letter from an art teacher and one from a teacher in a different academic area) and a copy of their high school transcript. Entertainment Technology: Design/Technical Theatre (Associates in Arts)
For this major, applicants must prepare for an interview with Professor Baillif. Also, the applicant must provide their portfolio, resume, and examples of work (if applicable).
