World Of Warcraft has had a rough couple of years. If you’ve had fun with the game, then great! But there is no denying the backlash the past 2 expansions have gotten. So many players have just been fed up with the direction the game has taken. While some have been sticking it out, others just wish to recapture the glory days. But as usual, a vast majority of tired fans are hopeful for the next expansion to the World of Warcraft.
Now just what is that next expansion? Well, World of Warcrafts upcoming release titled Dragonflight includes all the usual new stuff. But this time seemingly without tedious new systems and the usual bad eggs. This has gotten the community excited for the new content, but this is nothing new. It is up to Blizzard to determine how the game will be perceived by fans these next couple years.
Dragonflights Continent
Dragonflight takes place in a part of Azeroth that has been known about for over a decade now. The Dragon Isles, homeland of the dragons in World of Warcraft. Players are excited, as the dragons of Warcraft are some of the most beloved characters. We can expect at least 5 new zones. The Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, The Azure Span, Thaldraszus, and the Forbidden Reach. All of them feature new quests, dungeons, and other activities.
New Class & Race of Dragonflight
This is a new one for World of Warcraft, a race and class combo. Meaning this race can only be the one class. This new race plus class combo are called the Dracthyr Evokers. Capable of switching between a more humanoid form or a dragon form. Similar to Pandaren, players can forge their own path and pick between Alliance and Horde. The class can go into either the damage dealing Devastation or the healing Preservation specs. It should be mentioned that devastation is a ranged damage dealer, which is unique. There hasn’t been a ranged damage spec added since vanilla, this is new territory.
Other features of Dragonflight
There are multiple new features of the expansion that we currently know of. Dragonriding is a new form of aerial movement that is different from the current flying. Players will obtain 4 new Drakes, customizable mounts that will have players create a drake tailored to them. Blizzard are also revamping the talent system, professions and crafting, and many parts of the games user interface. The expansion will also include all the usual things, like a new level cap, and new raids and dungeons.
Conclusion
This all sounds pretty exciting, the new features are things players have been begging for. With the new zones and race/class, Dragonflight is shaping up to be very unique. The lack of a gimmicky new system for power is very welcoming. Many players have been fed up for years now with one power system after another. But this is the phase everyone is blinded by, seeing new things is too exciting. If Blizzard can pull through, the expansion could be the exact thing the MMO needs.
