I get it. College can be a pain sometimes, and you’re looking for something nice and sweet to take the edge off. I don’t blame you, it’s hard to resist a good sweet treat after a stressful day. Luckily for you, I’ve gathered a few spots not far from the college where you can get your fill. From Milkshakes to donuts, if you’re craving some sugar, this is the blog post for you.
Marble Slab Creamery
This place is a classic. It’s an ice cream shop with plenty of tasty options, a go-to for any cold treat. I’m a sucker for chocolate, especially of the milkshake variety, so this is an instant hit for me. I personally know the Creamery from its location at Pier Park, but there is apparently a location right off of front beach road. If it’s anything like the one at Pier Park, I definitely recommend a visit.
It’s located at 9956 Hutchison Blvd, Panama City Beach, FL 32407. If you’re headed to the beach, stop by.
Dan-D-Donuts
On the other side of the college, we’ve got an amazing spot right by the Bay High School. Dan-D-Donut’s sells, you guessed it, Donuts. They’ve got a great selection, but they also options like biscuits (with gravy!) and cinnamon rolls. I personally love their cinnamon rolls, especially because of how big they are!
One small thing to note; they are only open from 5:30 to 1pm for most days. They close early on Saturdays, and are closed on Sunday and Monday. This is strictly a morning shop, but if you’re running through that area while they are open, I highly recommend you pay this spot a visit.
Dan-D-Donuts is located at 1147 Harrison Ave, Panama City, FL 32401, stop by if you want some great donuts and baked goods.
Baskin Robbins
Now, now, I know what you’re going to say; “Randall, I thought you wanted to avoid big brands!” I hear you, dear reader, but I have to make this one exception. You want convenient and tasty milkshakes close to the college? You go here. No questions asks.
It’s not just milkshakes either. I personally go just for those, but all Baskin Robbins (at least, around here) are attached to a Dunkin Donuts. This means you also have the option to get donuts, coffee, or just some of their breakfast options if milkshakes aren’t your fancy.
There’s actually two spots I want to mention here. There’s the one on the cross between 23rd and Airport Road, which is closest to the college, not a bad spot. However, the one I usually go to is the one right after 23rd and Wilson. I pick this one not only because I’ve personally had a better experience with this one, but because I tend to pass it a lot when I do my super secret traffic trick for the light at 77 and 231.
The super secret traffic trick
The first Baskin Robbin’s is located at 1200 W 23rd St, Panama City, FL 32405, while the other is located at 516 E 23rd St, Panama City, FL 32405. If Milkshakes, coffee, or donuts is on your menu, check one of these locatiosn out.
Andy’s Flour Power
The last spot I wanted to mention is a quaint little bakery on the peninsula just south of 98, right when you get off the bridge. At first glance, it’s a nice breakfast spot, one I in-fact almost included in the post about breakfast spots. What makes it worthy of this list, however, is the fact that it doubles as a bakery. You’ve got a great selections of baked goods when you visit, ranging from pies, cakes, cookies, danishes, and more.
Just like Dan-D-Donuts, unfortunately, it’s only open for the mornings. Andy’s Flour Power at 7am and closes at 2pm every day. It’s frustrating if you’re looking for a late night sweet treat, but for people with a sweet tooth during breakfast time, It’s a great option.
Andy’s Flour Power is located at 2629 Thomas Dr, Panama City, FL 32408, so if you’re in that area and want something sweet or just looking for something for breakfast, try it.
